The Course
The course offers athletes and spectators alike a unique race venue that was designed to showcase Gloucester's maritime history and natural beauty.
The Swim
The 1/3 mile ocean swim takes place at Pavilion Beach and offers a panoramic view of Gloucester Harbor. Water temperature is expected to be somewhere between 62 and 64 degrees on race day. Wetsuits are highly recommended. In the event of poor swim conditions, the race director and the Gloucester Harbor Master reserve the right to shorten, alter or eliminate the swim course.
The Bike
The clockwise bike course is comprised of two 7.5 mile loops of scenic, rolling roads which wind through Gloucester. The course will begin at St. Peter's Square and head down Route 127 (also known as Western Avenue) towards Manchester. Racers will make a sharp right turn at Magnolia Avenue. The course continues through Magnolia Avenue and makes a right at Route 133 (Essex Avenue). Racers will continue down Route 133 to Route 127 to complete the loop #2 or head back to the transition area at St. Peter's Square.
Please note that the course is not closed to traffic. Athletes must stay to the far right at all times, unless passing another cyclist. Drafting is not permitted and will be enforced. Pass only on the left; do not pass any cyclist on their right.
The Run
The spectator friendly 2.9 mile run will loop two times around the main streets of downtown Gloucester and will end with a thrilling finish on Main Street.
